OPERATION HELPING HAND:
The
North Tampa Chamber is partnering with the Military Officers Association of
America (MOAA). This is an initiative to give assistance and support to the
wounded and injured active duty, reserve and National Guard members of the
military and their families during a time that they are under much stress
and anxiety. The wounded are at the James A Haley Veterans Hospital. The
length of stay averages 45 days, but many are there 120 days or more. Most
of the families are from out of state. They receive assistance from the
armed forces, but it is not enough. Donations can be made at all chamber
meetings. Credit card payments are accepted at meetings or at the "pay
online" icon on our home page. Credit card payments are processed by the
chamber then a check is issued to Operation Helping Hand. Checks should be
made payable to Operation Helping Hand and sent to the chamber office. One
hundred percent of all donations go to Operation Helping Hand. The chamber
volunteers all processing time. For more information, visit the
Tampa Chapter of MOAA
website. |
STUDENT
OF THE MONTH:
Each month during the school year, at our General Meeting,
we honor and celebrate the "Student of The Month" chosen from one of North
Tampa's many public and private schools. The student is chosen for
achievements in academics, athletics, community involvement, peer tutoring,
or showing progress in a specific area. Sponsorships by chamber members are
encouraged. The sponsor gets recognition in the newsletter, meeting program
and participates in the award presentation. |

LAW
ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OF THE MONTH: Each month, at our General Meeting,
the North Tampa Chamber honors the "Law Enforcement Officer of the Month."
This person has shown superior skills, courage and success in performing his
or her duties in specific crisis situations and/or community relations. The
Chamber honors law enforcement from both the Tampa City Police Department
and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Sponsorships by chamber
members are encouraged. The sponsor gets recognition in the newsletter,
meeting program and participates in the award presentation. |
LAW
ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OF THE YEAR: From the Monthly Program we choose one
recipient from the Tampa City Police Department and the Hillsborough County
Sheriff’s Office, to be recognized as the Law Enforcement Officer of the
Year. This individual is selected for having demonstrated superior
performance during a crisis situation and unusual valor under stress. This
law enforcement person, with his or her family, is our guest and honored at
our annual banquet. |
| ADOPT-A-FAMILY: This
committee coordinates obtaining worthy recipients (family, organization,
etc) for donations with board approval then secures donations of money and
items to fulfill their needs. Chamber businesses contribute additional
"special" gifts, money and support. AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY’S RELAY FOR LIFE: Relay For Life (RFL) has been the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) signature event for more than 20 years. The chamber participates by having a team, members serving on the relay committee, and promoting the event. ![]() ACS is dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service. The chamber’s effort in raising funds and volunteering time supports this dedication. For more information, visit the Relay For Life® of Carrollwood website.
